16th Annual Phlocking of the Phaithful

Another successful Phlocking is in the books!

The 16th annual Phlocking of the Phaithful concluded on Sunday 6/12 and by all accounts was a great success. Dan and Pat Kaley put on another outstanding event. This year nearly 250 enthusiastic Parrot Heads participated, coming from as far as away as Clearwater, St. Louis, Indianapolis, Ontario Canada, and from all points in and around Ohio and PA. Participants enjoyed the fellowship and camaraderie of old and new phriends as well as the music of Hanna’s Reef, Sunny Jim White, Latitude, Jim Hoehn and regulars, KD Moore, Johnny Rodriguez, Jay Hanson, and Corned Beef & Curry – not to mention the steak roast, appearance and give-aways by Captain Morgan and his pirate girls, the Tropical Isle Hand Grenade party and much more – what a great time!! Our North Coast club was once again well represented and seen out and about on the Island were: Laurie, Melissa, Jon, Michele, Patty, Ed, Lynn, Jenn, Robyn, Ginger, Tom, Alec, Shirley, DK, Karen, Dana, Nick, Joanne, Janie, Amy, Cheryl, Mitch, Jeff, Chris – did we miss anyone? If you’ve never experienced the fun of the Phlocking, you're missing out on what has become a premier Parrot Head event. Make plans to join us next year!

Susan G. Komen Race For The Cure

September 11th, 2010

The Race For The Cure is a charity that is strongly supported by not only our own club but by Parrot Head Clubs nation wide. This year the event will take place on Saturday September 11 at the Wolstein center in downtown Cleveland.We encourage our members to either participate by joining the team or to donate to the cause under the North Coast PHC banner. Laurie Dunn has once again volunteered to be our team leader and the registration cost is $25.00. To participate, please click here. From there you can elect to join the team, make a donation or see how our North Coast Club is tracking against our goal. The event starts at 7:00AM and participants can choose from a 5K competitive run, a 5K race/walk or a 1 mile walk. As in the past there will be plenty of pre race activities with a jazzercise warm up, sponsor giveaways, a survivors ceremony and a light breakfast. Let's turn out in force to support this very worthy cause.

Once again, Jimmy will be playing at First Niagara (formerly Post-Gazette) Pavilion and we will be joining our friends the Steel City Fins for the party! Check their website for the latest details, as there are always late-breaking developments. (For instance, there will now be multiple parties and hotels, due to popular demand!) We'll see you Under the Big Top, with our fins up and our feathers flashing!

NCPHC Beach Party Postponed

But don't worry, the fun never stops!

Due to work/show issues with the property owner, the beach party in Lorain originally scheduled for 8/21 is being moved to a date yet to be determined in September. With the move to the fall season, we are now considering to make it either a clambake or pig roast. Details will be available once they are firmed up. We are also looking to find a replacement activity for August that will take place a week or two after the August 12th Buffett concert in Pittsburgh. More to follow, so watch this space.

Other Interesting Stuff

What A Parrot Head Is

by Debbie Stephens, Orange County PHC (California)

We are not Parrot Heads because we are Jimmy Buffett fans.
We are Parrot Heads because:
* We love the ocean.
* We love our planet.
* We love to have fun.
We are Parrot Heads because:
* We are not afraid to be silly.
* We are not afraid to act foolish.
* We are not afraid of love.
We are Parrot Heads because:
* We like scantily clad members of our favorite sex
* We like playing in the sun with those same members.
* We like singing songs that say all of these things.
We are Parrot Heads because:
* We believe the best things in life cannot be bought.
* We believe sharing the best things makes them better.
* We believe in the innate goodness in all of us.
We are Parrot Heads because:
* We know shared joy is increased.
* We know shared pain is lessened.
* We know a good friend has value beyond measure.
It just so happens that Jimmy Buffett sings about all these things.
So, we are not Parrot Heads because we are Jimmy Buffett fans,
we are Jimmy Buffett fans because we are Parrot Heads!
